Full Demo A demo is a demonstration of your web site. When your site is working perfectly, you can show off all its features without a care as to whether some part of the site is broken. Because nothing is broken. Early in the development process, you did a scripted demo. You were allowed to plan your words and moves carefully so you do not accidentally fall into a part of the web site that is not working. At this phase, you must do a full demo. You must show that your web site works by letting the audience give you requests. Do this. Do that. As you do these things, your web site must respond properly. You will first do a semi-scripted demo, where you lead the audience through the site, stopping to ask them for inputs, such as what name for the customer, what product to buy, etc. As in the scripted demo, you must demonstrate the emotional appeal of the web site. You must convince the audience that your web site is appropriate to the customers that you intend to draw. Tell about your customers. Tell how you think they will react to your home page. Tell why you designed your home page the way you did. Beyond the scripted demo, you must show that your site does the right thing with the information that is provided. CGI must work. Fully. You will be observed and graded by persons from outside our class. These may include faculty members and students. This demo is a big deal. You need to polish it and make it really good. You will be graded on completeness and emotional appeal. Completeness means that a customer can go all the way through a transaction, and everything works. Every page is present and makes sense. Emotional appeal means that your judges think your customers will feel good about the site, and how it works. During the judging, members outside your team will evaluate your web site in writing. These comments will be turned in to the instructor, who will use them in developing a composite grade for your site. The comments will then be give to you, so you can learn from the ideas and suggestions for improving your web site.
