Substantial Content You must demonstrate in class that your eCommerce web site has substantial content. By substantial, the rule of thumb is that you have 100 items in your database. Content should include, at a minimum, a color picture of the item (if that is feasible), a description of the item, and pricing for the item. The content must be uploaded to your server, and be in a form that it can be easily used by a CGI program. For a catalog merchant, this would probably mean 100 products that are for sale. Some type of search function would be used to identify products of interest to the customer, and cgi (probably) would be used to present this products. Alternately, there could be 100 web pages, each customized for an individual product, that could be provided as links from a CGI search results page. For an educational organization, this would mean 100 courses. For a pizza company, this would mean 100 toppings, sizes, crust alternatives, etc. Well, for pizza 100 might be too many. For Burger King (Have it Your Way (TM)) there are about a dozen alternatives: tomatoes yes/no, mayonaise yes/no, onions yes/no, etc. But then there are always shakes, fries, soft drinks, here or to go, etc. Shoot for 100 items and have a good reason if you fall short. It is not necessary to have CGI working to demonstrate the 100 items. CGI would be the best way to demonstrate it, but you can simply show each of the 100 web pages, or get into the database and dump the 100 items to the screen.
