Today in class we made Cat5e cables. Everyone was present and
participated.

Please check the grade book for this class.  Look in the L1 column.
If you have a score of 30, it means I gave you credit for making a
working cable.  If you have a score of 45, it means that both you made
a cable for yourself and you also made one for extra credit that I
kept.  If you have a score of 0, it means that I did not see your
cable, or your cable was not working.

If there are any errors, please bring them to my attention.

Wednesday in class we will set up some Wi-Fi networks. To play, you
must have your cable and a laptop. If you don't have a cable or a
laptop, you can still participate by buddying up with someone that
does, but it's more fun if you have your own.

I did a massive revision of the calendar. Mostly I spread things out
more. A typical unit will now have two weeks of class time. Before it
was closer to one week. I have updated the reading deadlines for
readings 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.  Reading 2 is still due today (Sep 26), as
originally scheduled.

They syllabus that is online has been updated to show the new dates
for everything.

I also created an online grade book for the class. You can find it at
dcquiz. I entered the scores for R1 (the first reading) and E1 (the
first exam). You are invited to double check my data entry to make
sure I copied your scores correctly.

The first exam covering chapters 1 through 4 of Networking 101 is now
graded and open for review. I was very pleased by the performances of
the top students, one getting 97 out of 98 points. Wow.

For those that did not do quite so well, there will be another
opportunity, a retake, later in the semester. Scores on retakes will
be limited to 90% of the total points possible, and will require you
to abandon your old score.
