There are parts I probably do not understand at this time. I will reply to the parts that I do think I understand. I think I can give you some explanations to your questions that you as the professor can’t see from your prospective. This is very helpful to me. If my judgment is accurate, ... you teach us in that we are dependent upon the need of the lab to help us develop our own thinking to create our own programs and not just copy from what you show us. Yes. This is true. You have very well written instructions to help us learn it, but we have no example whatsoever of what CGI looks like inside, There are three or four CGI programming labs that are graded by GradeBot, and everyone has done them. But there must be still a missing link. I went back to my 6-page CGI handout and looked through it carefully. You are right. There was no complete CGI program in that handout. I was able to add more steps in answer to your point. I added another page of material, mostly focusing on this shortcoming. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I think students have a great responsibility to ask a question if there is something they do not understand. You have shown great care in writing your email to me. This is a good example of you "asking the question." The other alternative is hard for me to think about: can I lead you through every step, no matter how small? I cannot do this because I cannot tell when the steps are small enough. This is where you must help me. When we started into the mysql unit, I spend an hour getting everyone up to the point of creating a table and inserting data into it. I should have done the same thing with CGI. It would probably help. I will think more about this. Maybe it is not too late. Thank you for taking time to share your concerns and frustrations with me. I hope that we can resolve these problems to make the class better for everyone. Bro Colton
